For more than 30 years, Early Childhood Intervention programs throughout Texas have provided critical assistance to newborns and toddlers with special needs. El Paso’s three ECI programs have offered therapy, instruction, and hope to thousands of families, many of whom are unfamiliar with how to help a child with mental or physical disabilities.

To raise awareness of ECI services and to create an emergency fund to help needy ECI families, the programs organized a Stroller-A-Thon eight years ago. The community event allows our families – past and present – to gather, renew friendships and share stories of the achievements of their children who are enrolled in or graduates of ECI. The law of averages means these people could be your co-workers, your neighbors, and members of your families.

In recent years, the need for an emergency fund has grown among ECI families. The local ECI programs have raised more than $10,000 that has been distributed to hundreds of families with basic needs such as food, rent, respite, utilities, and household items such as floor fans and space heaters.

That is why we are asking for your help as a sponsor for this event. Contributions are tax deductible because ECI is a non-profit 501c(3) organization.

Whether or not you can help us financially or in-kind, please consider joining us for a fun run around Ascarate Park or a tranquil “stroll” around Ascarate Lake. Better yet, form a team with your family members, friends and work associates.
